The King’s Church Wakefield is so excited to be in Thornes Park once again!

Last year was a great success with many people travelling from around Wakefield and the surrounding towns to join with us and to enjoy church in the open air.

Our large marquee will be situated next to the Children’s Play Area and Skate Park.

We would be thrilled to see you at one of our events, if you would like more information then please don’t hesitate to contact the church through our contacts page.

A warm welcome? When you walk into the hall you will be warmly welcomed by our Welcome Team and given a visitor card. We would appreciate it if you could complete the card at the most convenient time and return it to our Welcome Team or place it in one of our Offering baskets.

What can I expect to happen? During the first part of the meeting the church will be enjoying praise & worship. Expect to see people lifting their hands, dancing, singing and praying. You will also see and hear the gifts of the Holy Spirit in action.

In the second half of the meeting it will be given over to the teaching of the Word of God for about 45 minutes.

At the end of the meeting you are invited to our guest area, our Welcome Team will show you where the refreshments area is located. There you will have the opportunity to meet some of our leaders while having some refreshments.

NEVERTHELESS . . . .

The reading was that well known passage in Isaiah 9:1-7, foretelling the end of darkness, the breaking of the yoke, the coming of the Messiah and the increase of His government and peace. But my ear was caught by the first word – nevertheless.

It seemed to me that it was a good way of describing the character and attributes of our God. He is a faithFUL God and a merciFUL judge and how ever many people call upon Him for help and healing, His compassion is never the less. From creation up to today, miracles are taking place, but His power is never the less. We are told that the new birth rate has overtaken the natural birth rate, and still the saving power of the blood of Jesus is never the less.

The Hebrew word “Shalom” is loosely, and briefly, translated as “peace” but it means so much more than that. It means wholeness, completeness and total well-being. It means being at peace with God, at peace with others and at peace with ourselves.

Fix your mind and heart on the Lord, His Word and His purposes, and you will find that whatever happens tomorrow, your peace and tranquillity, like His, will be never the less.

MY WORD ALWAYS PRODUCES FRUIT

Isaiah 55:10-11

The Word of God is not merely 26 letters arranged in a variety of ways on the pages of a book – it is alive and always produces a result – because it is the Word of God.  In biology, the study of living things, one of the tests of whether something is alive or not, is, does it reproduce? If it does, then whatever it looks like, it’s alive.

The Word says this of itself – the word of God is alive and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit. Hebrews 4:12

This is how necessary the word of God is – man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the LORD.

Read about the life of Jesus in the Gospels and taste for yourself some of the fruit which is produced by the Word of God and which can be reproduced in your life – faith, hope, security, comfort, joy, strength, answers …..

What is PageRank?

PageRank is a numeric value that represents how important a page is on the web. Google figures that when one page links to another page, it is effectively casting a vote for the other page. The more votes that are cast for a page, the more important the page must be. Also, the importance of the page that is casting the vote determines how important the vote itself is. Google calculates a page’s importance from the votes cast for it. How important each vote is is taken into account when a site’s PageRank is calculated.

PageRank is Google’s way of deciding a page’s importance. It matters because it is one of the factors that determines a page’s ranking in the search results. It isn’t the only factor that Google uses to rank pages, but it is an important one.

Not all links are counted by Google. For instance, they filter out links from known link farms. Some links can cause a site to be penalized by Google. They rightly figure that webmasters cannot control which sites link to their sites, but they can control which sites they link out to. For this reason, links into a site cannot harm the site, but links from a site can be harmful if they link to penalized sites.

The 2001 Census revealed that 72% of the population of Britain consider themselves to be Christians, but what makes someone a Christian?

If you answered ‘Yes’ to the question; Are you a Christian? What is your reason for saying this?

My parents were Christian.

I am English & England is a Christian country.

I believe in God.

I pray.

I read my Bible.

I go to Church.

I don’t break any of the 10 commandments.

I don’t do anything to hurt other people.

I am a moral and upright person.

I do a lot of voluntary work.

I give to charities and other good causes.

So what does make someone a Christian?

Although some of these answers may reveal your heart to be in the right place and some may also agree with what the Bible says about living as a Christian, this is not how the Bible defines a Christian.

The Bible sets out quite clearly how someone becomes a  Christian.  It does not give different options for how to become a Christian, it tells us there is one way and that is the only way.

First you need to accept that everyone sins.  God does not distinguish between murder, adultery, a little white lie or theft (which includes that pen from work), they are all sins.

Secondly you need to believe that Jesus was the son of God, that he was crucified as a sacrifice for all of mankind’s sins, and that he was raised from the dead and ascended to heaven.

So what next?

Ask Jesus to forgive your sins and to come into your heart, to be your Lord and Saviour.

Romans 10:8-10

Yes, it is that simple.

An easy way to do this is to say the following prayer out loud.

“Lord Jesus, I believe that you are the Son of God.  I believe you died and paid the price for my sin.  I believe that you rose again and now live forever.  I surrender my life to you and ask you to forgive me for my sin and make me part of your family.  I want you to be my Lord and help me to live your way.  Thank you for your love and your faithfulness. AMEN”
