History

Wakefield

A little bit of history ….

The evening of Sunday 30 September 1984 was the date of the first meeting of the new church to be planted in Wakefield. During the weeks that followed, evangelism took place on the streets and door-to-door visits were made in various parts of the city. Evening meetings were held on Fridays throughout the winter in Unity house on Smyth Street.

Saturday 6 April 1985 Keri Jones was the speaker at a big meeting in Unity Hall which “launched” the church and the first of the regular Sunday meetings took place the next day.

Five of those who were there in 1984 are still here and still going strong!
